my name is joão
and this is part of my work
how do you say your name again?
João /ʒuˈãʊ/ (or djoo.ahn.um) is the Portuguese version for John.
Simple as that.
The right way to pronounce it can be a little tricky for any non-native Portuguese speaker.
The symbol on top of the “a” is called tilde (also “til” in Portuguese), and indicates that the vowel is pronounced nasally.
The fastest you try, the closest you get to it. But if you still can't figure out how to do it, just call me João.
